Ibanez is a Japanese guitar brand owned by Hoshino Gakki. Based in Nagoya, Aichi, Japan, Hoshino Gakki were one of the first Japanese musical instrument company a significant foothold in the import-guitar sales in the United States and Europe, and won the first brand of guitar to produce a mass, seven-string guitar.
Hoshino Gakki company began in 1908 as a musical instrument sales division of Hoshino Shoten bookstore company. Ibanez brand dates back to 1929 when Hoshino Gakki began importing Salvador Ibanez guitars from Spain.
